Jo Ann Porter's Obituary
Jo Ann Porter, age 88, of Murphysboro, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. in the Shawnee Senior Living Center, Herrin, IL.
Jo Ann was born on April 19, 1932 in Pomona, IL to John and Laura (Fite) Williams. On July 2, 1949, she married Lavern "Red" Porter in Osceola, AR. He proceeded her in death on July 12, 1987. Jo Ann was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan and an avid reader. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carbondale, IL. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Survivors include her three daughters, Mary E. (George) Schaefer of DeSoto, IL, Jacquelynn (Don) Woods of Fairview, OK, and Janice F. Porter of Murphysboro, IL; daughter-in-law, Lynn Roberts Porter of Murphysboro, IL; sister, Laura B. Skaggs of Peoria, IL; nine grandchildren, Mary Jo Porter, Michelle Bolin, Michael Porter, Steven Ridings, Jodi James, Jamie Herter, John Naas, Jay Ruble, and Samantha Smith; step-granddaughter, Jo Anne Schaefer; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Michael L. Porter; three brothers, John Williams, Joe Williams, and Clyde Williams; and three sisters, Mary K. Porter, Georgia Hickam, and Ruth Ann Terril.
It was Jo Ann's wishes to be cremated.
