Jimmie Donald "Seymore" Phillips' Obituary
Jimmie Donald "Seymore" Phillips, age 70, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 10:26 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, IL. Donald was born on October 31, 1938 in Williamson County, IL, a son to Charles Raleigh and Eunice Flo (Stephens) Phillips. On August 15, 1959, he married Marilyn McLaughlin in Cairo, IL and she survives. The Phillips' just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Donald worked in the bindery at Spartan Printing, retiring after 33 years. He was a volunteer firefighter and loved to fish and to compete in Bass fishing tournaments. Donald is survived by his wife, two sons: Curtis (Rita) Phillips of Oakdale, IL and John Phillips of Coulterville, IL, two daughters: Lana (Greg) Kurwicki of Nashville, IL and Monica (Kevin) Strubhart of Albers, IL, six grandchildren: Christina Hagene of Sparta, IL, Casondra Louise Phillips, Ryan and Michelle Kurwicki and Bradley and Mallory Strubhart, two great-grandchildren: Kyle and Keyan Hagene, two sisters: Betty (Bill) Head of Shawneetown, IL and Shirley ( Bobby) Rains of Marion, IL, many dear nieces and nephews, special friends: Howard and Rosemary Westerman, Dale and Helen Harstick, Jim and Tabitha Knope, Roland and Laura Wilson, Don and Dorothy Degenhart, and many other dear friends and Buddy the cat. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant son: James, and one sister: Phyllis Montonavi. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Jeffrey Vogelzang officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
