Janet Young's Obituary
Janet Young, age 74, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 6:43 p.m. in Evelyn's House, Creve Coeur, MO.
Janet was born on July 29, 1945 in Pinckneyville, IL, the daughter of Kenneth Maurice and Dolores F. (Williams) Terry, Sr. She married Michael L. Young in 1973 and he survives. Janet worked as a math teacher for over twenty-five years. During her career, she taught at Freeburg High School, Freeburg, IL, in Ferguson-Florissant School District, and lastly at Mehlville High School in the Mehlville School District until she retired in 2012. Janet was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed antiquing, horse racing, and especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Young of St. Louis, MO; three sons, Michael (Jill) Young, Mark (Kara) Young, and Scott (Chrissy) Young all of St. Louis, MO; her mother, Dolores Terry of Pinckneyville, IL; six grandchildren, Elizabeth and Audrey Young, Gabriella Young, Conor and Evan Hazard, and Abigail Young; one sister-in-law, Vickie Terry of Mt. Vernon, IL; and two nieces, Natalie Wellen of McLeansboro, IL, and Stacey (Clint) Hayden of Fancy Farm, KY.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy and Marcella Terry; father, Kenneth Maurice Terry, Sr; and one brother, Kenneth "Butch" Terry.
Private funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
