Janet Carole DeFord's Obituary
Janet Carole DeFord, age 72, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 8:52 p.m. in Herrin Hospital, Herrin, IL.
Janet was born on February 23, 1949 in Cuba, IL, a daughter to Carroll and Florence (Melvin) Harr. On June 2, 1967, she married Jackie L. "Jack" DeFord in Cuba, IL they shared thirty-seven years together before he passed away on October 23, 2004. Janet was a homemaker and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, baking and cooking. She was a great baker who made pies and cakes for people. Janet was an exceptional cook especially beef and noodles. She loved watching wrestling and her passion was spending time with her family. Janet loved her cats and dogs and never knew a stranger.
Survivors include her three children, Greg (Missie) DeFord of Pinckneyville, IL, Shari Elder of Tamaroa, IL, and Becki (Jeff) Tucker of Marietta, OH; seven grandchildren, Cole DeFord and Hunter DeFord, Ambrielle DeFord, Kiera (Grady) Dunihoo, Levi Tucker, Mya Jo Tucker and Jena Elder; three great-grandchildren, Khloe, Adalyn and Wesley; six sisters, Cathy Craig of DuQuoin, IL, Vickie (Leslie) Bowles of Cuba, IL, Brenda Harr of DuQuoin, IL, Suzanne (Kenneth) George of Tamaroa, IL, Judy Doolin of Coello, IL and Lori Bailey of Decatur, IL; one cat, Mia; one dog, Sally; and two grand dogs, Blayke and Cinch.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jackie L. "Jack" DeFord; one son, Edward DeFord; and one brother, Bob Harr.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Ivan Plemmons officiating. Interment will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, July 16, 2021 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Lowe's Syndrome and Herrin Hospital ICU.
