Jane E. Lambert's Obituary
Jane E. Lambert, age 94, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 12:45 a.m. in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Jane was born on January 31, 1927 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Fred J. and Marionrose L. (Miller) Lambert. She was a member of the Catholic faith. During her younger years, she was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL and was employed by the Pinckneyville Democrat newspaper when J.B. Sheley was the editor. In her early twenties, she moved to Granite City, IL with her parents and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish (now Holy Family). Jane attended Washington University, St. Louis, MO. She worked as a dental assistant for E. K. Vickers, Granite City, IL and later attended Mexico City College, Mexico, D.F. Jane worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Granite City, IL in admitting, which was operated by the Sisters of the Divine Providence Order. Jane joined the order at the convent in Normandy, MO. After leaving the order, she taught grades Kindergarten, Second and Third at Sacred Heart School and taught religious instruction to Catholic students attending public school.
Jane was an active member of the Legion of Mary for years and then an auxiliary member.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Ensign Maurice J. Lambert, USNR and Donald C. Lambert.
She is survived by four nephews: Donald (Cindy) Lambert of Green Valley, AZ, Dr. Maurice Lambert of Green Valley, AZ, Richard (Arefa) Lambert of Boynton Beach, FL and Randy (Judy) Lambert of Edwardsville, IL, two nieces: Jane Ann (Dr. Don) Freesmeier of Mattoon, IL and Janet (Bob) Scanlon of Urbana, MD. Jane is also survived by eleven great nieces and nephews and ten great-great nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered as a fun-loving aunt and will be missed for adding so much joy to all family occasions.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Augustine Ibezimako officiating. Interment will be at St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the Perry County Humane Society.
Due to the Covid-19 virus, all mandates and regulations will be enforced.
