James P. Sweet's Obituary
James P. Sweet - Caseyville/Troy, IL Jim Sweet passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 in Belleville Memorial Hospital. Mr. Sweet was born on March 1, 1929 and was raised by his grandmother, Lillie Robinson in Coulterville, IL. He graduated from SIU, Carbondale with a degree in psychology and served as a Methodist minister for nineteen years. Later he became a teacher and taught special need children in St. Louis until he retired. Besides operating rental property in Coulterville, he enjoyed wood crafts and flying his own small airplane. He also loved to travel and visited many places including Germany, France, Ireland, Russia, and Australia. Mr. Sweet is survived by one sister, Marie Lehr; four sons, Bill Sweet, John Sweet, Bjorn Loftis, and Gus Loftis; and four daughters: Donna Neil, Lily Hoskin, Teresa Orto, and Jana Loftis. He is also survived by a special friend, Lorraine Butler, and their dog, Josie, as well as thirteen grandchildren, and three great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Troy, IL. Burial will be in the Coulterville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
