James Richard Russell's Obituary
James Richard Russell, age 82, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 9:10 p.m. in Friendship Manor, Nashville, IL.
James was born January 7, 1941 in Tucker's Corners in Hamilton County, IL, a son to James and Fannie Susan (Burnett) Russell. On April 25, 1964, he married Betty Jane Dowdy in Galatia, IL and she survives. James had worked in oil fields all of his life. He was a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church, Coulterville, IL. James liked old cars and was a member of the Grandcote Cruisers. He also enjoyed gardening, working, and cutting grass.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty Russell of Coulterville, IL; three daughters, Lee Ann (Tommy) Talbert, Tracy (Larry) Bumann, and Melinda Russell, all of Coulterville, IL; a sister, Sharon Kay (Leon) Harris; seven grandchildren, Joseph (Shauna), James "Jimbo" (Tara), Danielle, Slade, Shane, Whittney, and Jace; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter due at the end of July; a special cousin, Marion Russell; a special friend, Dustin Lowery; and his dog, Max II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lucille "Lucy" Rodgers; and his dogs, Max and Daisy.
Memorial services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Ron Mazander officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the dementia ward at Friendship Manor, Nashville, IL.
