James R. Casida's Obituary
James R. Casida, age 76, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10:23 p.m., in his home.
James was born on December 22, 1945 in Mapleton, KS, a son to Raymond and Vada Marie (McDaniels) Casida. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force having served in the Vietnam War. On October 4, 1969, he married Zoila Rojas in La Chorrera, Panama and she survives. James had worked for 40 years as an auto body repairman. He owned and operated Coulterville Auto Body with his brother, David. James was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Coulterville V.F.W., Coulterville Jaycees, and the Schuline Fishing Club. James loved fishing, country music, drinking beer and collecting 8-track tapes, vinyl records, cassette tapes and CDs.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Zoila Casida of Coulterville, IL; daughter, Melissa (Brian) Perkes of Breese, IL; brother, David (Joanne) Casida of Coulterville, IL; sister, Ann Johnson of Kansas; granddaughter, Olivia Marie Perkes; one niece; three nephews; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Gary Johnson.
Funeral services will be held in Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Cody Battefeld officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville Cemetery, Coulterville, IL with military graveside rites by Coulterville V.F.W. Post #6865, Coulterville, IL.
Visitation will be in Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital.
