James "Mike" M. Simpson, Sr.'s Obituary
James M. "Mike" Simpson, Sr., age 58, of Coffeen, IL, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 1:05 p.m. in his home. Mike was born on July 4, 1950 in Martins Ferry, OH, a son to James and Martha (Collier) Simpson. On June 28, 1969, he married Susan Albright in Hopedale, OH and she survives. He had retired from Consolidated Coal Company where he had worked as a foreman, superintendent and in various other positions for 32 years. He was of the Church of God faith, loved music, fishing, hunting, riding his Harley Davidson, drag racing and other car related activities, was a member of the N.H.R.A., and was a certified E.M.T. for 25 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife: Susan Simpson of Coffeen, IL, mother and stepfather: Martha Ellen (Rev. Samuel B.) Betts of Cadiz, OH, two sons: James Michael (Katina) Simpson, Jr. of West Frankfort, IL, and Richard L. Simpson (Alana Kuhnert) of Percy, IL, a daughter: Leslie René (Douglas) Bird of Pinckneyville, IL, a brother: Jamie R. Simpson of Atlanta, GA, two sisters: Vickie Mellot of Barton, OH, and Kathie Yocum of Jacobsberg, OH , seven grandchildren: Shelden Simpson of Hillsboro, IL, Ashley Davis of DuQuoin, IL, Darrah Craig of Pinckneyville, IL, Morgan Simpson of Willisville, IL, Jacob Simpson of West Frankfort, IL, Daniel Kuhnert of Percy, IL, and Elizabeth Grace Carolyn Simpson, who is due to be born in August, and special members of the family: Mike Phillips and family. He was preceded in death by his father, good friends: Carl Randall and Danny Bradac and his beloved dog: Gizmo. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
