James "Jim" J. Fisher's Obituary
James J. "Jim" Fisher, age 87, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 10:15 a.m. at Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehab, Pinckneyville, IL. Jim was born on December 3, 1928 in Belleville, IL, a son to John T. "Tom" and Arillia M. (Poirot) Fisher. He was a proud veteran of the United State Marine Corp obtaining the rank of corporal while serving during the Korean War. On October 8, 1949, he married Violet Delores Marlow in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. He was a self-employed house mover with William Keene, Inc for 45 years. Jim enjoyed woodworking, playing musical instruments, reading the bible, and reciting poetry. Survivors include his wife of almost 67 years, Delores Fisher of Tamaroa, IL; a daughter, Sandy (Don) Miller of Tamaroa, IL; a brother, Daniel (Joann) Fisher of Cape Girardeau, MO; three sisters, Kathy (Joe) Sweitzer of Cobden, IL, Betty (Virgil) Wehking of Moro, IL and Ann (Andy) Schubert of Tamaroa, IL; three grandchildren, Jed (Julie) Miller, Jon Miller and Donnie Miller; two great-grandchildren, Amani and Nyarai; and a special friend, Richard Farthing of Tamaroa, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steven Joseph Fisher and James Fisher; a brother, Jack Fisher; and a sister-in-law, Carol Fisher. Funeral services will be held at New Hope Community Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor James Clardy officiating. Interment will be in Campbell Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Military graveside rites will be performed by American Legion Post #2504 Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at New Hope Community Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to New Hope Community Church. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of arrangements.
