James Richard Dewar's Obituary
James Richard "The Chief" Dewar, age 72, of DuQuoin, passed away on Saturday, October 07, 2006 at 3:00 a.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, DuQuoin, IL. James was born on December 11, 1933 in West Frankfort, IL, a son to Cecil M. and Mary Eileen (Moss) Dewar. He first worked at Bracy's in Benton, then the A&P, West Frankfort, he managed Food Park & Green's IGA, DuQuoin and later owned and operated Value Plus in DuQuoin. He loved to fish, hunt, and play guitar. Survivors include his mother: Eileen Dewar of West Frankfort, one son: Marvin Dewar and wife Renata of DuQuoin, two daughters: Debra Barnes and husband Lonnie of Marion, and Marilyn Pridgen of Titusville, FL, and Deloris Burgess, the mother of his children. A special daughter: Rebekah Combes, step-daughter: Kelly Combes, two step-sons: Erin and Shannon Combes, one sister: Cathy Lampley and husband Marvin of West Frankfort, six grandchildren: Larry Burns, Angie Irvin, James "Matt" and Zachary Dewar, and Symone and Symantha Pridgen, two great-grandchildren: Savannah and Jayda Grace, several step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren, several other aunts, uncles, and relatives, a special friend: Chuck Wilson of DuQuoin, and several very close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, one sister: Marilyn K. Dewar, and wife: Judith Dewar. Funeral Services will be held in Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Evangelist Donnie Shelton officiating. Interment will be in Knob Prairie Cemetery, Akin, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Monday from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and then on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial donations may be made to Perry County Gold Plate Program.
