James D. "Jimmy" Chapman's Obituary
James D. "Jimmy" Chapman, age 74 of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 10:16 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL after a brief illness. Jimmy was born on February 14, 1937 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to James Craig and Kathryn C. (Hawkins) Chapman. On July 28, 1990, he married Donnia Driskell and she survives. Jimmy retired in 1998 after working for over 40 years for Local 520 Operating Engineers as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed working outdoors, working on all types of engines, fishing, and being with his family Jimmy is survived by wife, Donnia Chapman of Pinckneyville, IL; two sons, David Chapman of Lima, Peru and Daniel (Carla) Chapman of Pinckneyville, IL; step-children, Cindy (Joe) Loos and Scott Driskell; two brothers, Bennie Chapman and Joe (Gledith) Chapman; two sisters, Sally (Derek) Dolling and Connie Moore all of Pinckneyville, IL; ten grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, daughter-in-law, Theresa Chapman and his beloved dog, Daisy Mae. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Barbara; two brothers, Mike and Sammy who died in infancy; two sons, Donnie Ray Chapman and Heath Allen Chapman; and one nephew, Greg Chapman. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis and Reverend Kirk Steele officiating. Jimmy's wishes were to be cremated after the services. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Ministries, Carbondale, IL or St. Bruno Catholic School, Pinckneyville, IL.
