Jack H. Thornton's Obituary
Jack H. Thornton, age 68, passed away on February 5, 2014 at 7:55 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL. Jack was born in Perry County, IL on December 4, 1945, a son to Forest H. and Mildred P. (Kramlich) Thornton. On December 8, 1963, he married Joyce Williams in Murphysboro, IL and she survives. He was a member of Elkton Union Church, Elkton, IL. Jack worked for Zeigler Mine #11 for 28 years and was a member of UMWA and Pinckneyville Coon Club. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors, hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Joyce Thornton of Coulterville, IL; two sons, Tom H. (Rose) Thornton of Pinckneyville, IL and Mike E. (Kimberly) Thornton of Pinckneyville, IL; one daughter, Cyndee K. (Scott) Hill of Coulterville, IL; three sisters, Madaline Hill of Tilden, IL; Frances (Loren) Rice of Pinckneyville, IL; and Sharon Hill of Tilden, IL; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene "Thunder" Thornton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL with Ron Mazander officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Oncology Department.
