Jack J Struck's Obituary
Dr. Jack J. Struck, age 85, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. in Barnes Jewish Hospital, St Louis, MO Jack was born on May 14, 1931 in DeSoto, IL, a son to Herman Oscar and Edna May (Griffith) Struck. In 1954, he married Dorothy "Eloise" Dearing in DuQuoin, IL and she preceded him in death on February 13, 1980. Jack was a veteran of the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant in the Korean War. He was a chiropractor and farmer for over 57 years in DuQuoin, IL. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of DuQuoin, II, Rotary Club, Elks Club, and American Legion, police and fire commissioner and economic developing director of DuQuoin, IL. He was a member of the Illinois State Chiropractic Society and was honored as the Chiropractor of the Year for that organization. He was the Citizen of the Year in DuQuoin and served as the mayor of DuQuoin from 1965 until 1973. He especially loved farming and the city of DuQuoin. Survivors include his son, Scott (Michelle) Struck of Springfield, IL; one daughter, Michelle Struck of Omaha, NB; two grand children, Hannah and Sarah Struck; and long time companion, Molly Newman of DuQuoin, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister, Rosemary McCord. Funeral Services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Gerald Wright officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Saturday, December 10 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Military graveside rites will be performed by the DuQuoin VFW and American Legion.
