Jack L. Smith's Obituary
Jack L. Smith, age 79, of Sparta, IL, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 9:20 p.m. in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehab., Pinckneyville, IL. Jack was born on August 14, 1937 in DuQuoin, IL, a son to Michael P. and Audrey E. (Bigham) Smith. On November 23, 1957, he married Nora Jean Uhe in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. Jack was a pressman for World Color Press. He was a shriner and a volunteer firefighter in Sparta, IL. Jack enjoyed playing golf and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Jean "Jeanne" Smith of Sparta, IL; two sons, Jeff Smith of Pinckneyville, IL and Brian Smith of Palm Harbor, FL; one daughter, Barbara (Dean) Peebels of Xenia, OH; five grandchildren, Zack, Joshua, Amanda, Michelle, and Richard; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother Richard (Judy) Smith of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mick Smith. Jack donated his body to science to help others. There are no services scheduled. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.
