Jack Roger Homan's Obituary
Jack Roger Homan, age 75, of rural Tamaroa, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 5:05 p.m., in Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion, IL.
Jack was born on September 13, 1948 in Murphysboro, IL, a son to Adolph F. and Lena M. (Roseberry) Homan. Jack was a high school graduate from Murphysboro. He went to work at MCA Record Factory, Pinckneyville, IL, where he met his wife Peggy Logan-Houghland, and were married for 56 years. He later retired from Consol Coal Company - Burning Star #4 in Cutler, IL after 31 years. He was a member of the UMWA, AARP, and NRA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching old westerns, gardening, and loved mowing his lawn. Jack was a born again Christian, a member and trustee of Philadelphia Independent Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL, where he spent many years as groundskeeper and all around handy-man. He loved to go shopping at Menards and then grabbing a bite to eat at Cracker Barrel. He was a talented woodworker and made furniture for friends and family. Jack was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather and he absolutely loved spending time with all of them.
Survivors include their two sons, Steve and Missy (Loos) Houghland and Nathan (Tiffany Foote) Homan all of Pinckneyville, IL; one daughter, Erin (Bob) Kroeger of Tamaroa, IL; ten grandchildren, Kacie (Lee) Jackson, Brandy (Cory) Draper, Ashley (Robbie) Lunnemann, Clayton Houghland, Dylan Houghland, Beau (Chrystal) Kroeger, Logan (Lindsey) Kroeger, Brendon Presswood, Helena Jordin Presswood and Morgan (Geoff) Forsting; fourteen great-grandchildren, Leigha, Robert, and Delilah Kroeger, Haylen Sisson, Kyla and Miley White, Madalyn and Rylin Lunnemann, Kinley, Evelyn, and Monroe Draper, and Decklyn and Ayven Forsting, and Waylin Grace Kroeger, in whom he had great joy and delight!
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Brittany Presswood-Mitchell; one sister, Lena Brown; several brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.
A funeral service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Ivan Plemmons Sr. officiating. Interment will be at Holts Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
A visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and American Diabetes Association.
