Jack Darrell Jenkel's Obituary
Jack Darrell Jenkel, age 79, of Pinckneyville, IL passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 10:05 p.m., in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Jack was born on August 29, 1945, in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Wilson S. and Evelyn L. (Fisher) Jenkel. On November 23, 1963, he married Christina “Tina” Buettner in Pinckneyville and after 57 years of marriage she preceded him in death on August 27, 2021. He worked as a laborer and carpenter for Dolling Construction Company and he was a jack of all trades. Jack loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His strength and courage will forever live on in his children.
He is survived by his six children, Michael (Barbara) Jenkel of Pinckneyville, IL, RaiDean (Bruce) Landreth of Iuka, IL, Traci (Dale) Johnson of Ava, IL; Scott (Amy) Jenkel of Pinckneyville, IL, Beverly Baxter of DuQuoin, IL, and Clay (Laurie) Jenkel of Tamaroa, IL; one brother, Reverend Jimmy (Fran) Jenkel of Benton, IL; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two “adopted” sons, Timmy Lynch of Elmore, OH and Tommy Jausel of Fernandia Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Jonathan Daryl “J.D.” Jenkel; two brothers, Everett “Blue” Jenkel and Bobby Joe Jenkel; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Wadkins and two nieces, April Jenkel and RaiDean O’Brien.
A funeral service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with Reverend Jimmy Jenkel officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Sunday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the J.D. Jenkel Memorial Scholarship.
