Jack D. Ewing's Obituary
Jack D. Ewing, age 88, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 10:49 a.m., in Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Jack was born on May 13, 1936, in Keenes, IL, a son to George and Ollie (Wood) Ewing. Jack was baptized in Browns Christian Church on April 9, 1950 in Browns, IL. On October 2, 1972, he married Wilma Schrader in St. Louis, MO, and she survives. Jack worked and retired from the United States Postal Service. He began his career for U.S.P.S., at Midway Airport in Chicago, IL and was a railway mail clerk between Nashville, TN and St. Louis, MO, when they took the trains off, he moved on to the air mail field in the St. Louis International Airport. Jack enjoyed watching sports, especially the Fighting Illini basketball and St. Louis Cardinal baseball. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Wilma Ewing of Pinckneyville, IL; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Owen Ewing; two sisters, Lois Jean Bingaman and Wilma A. Brackett; one sister-in-law, Betty Ewing; two nieces, Elaine Dhom and Marianne Weber; and one nephew, Russell Ewing.
A funeral service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend David Kollmeyer officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Conant, IL.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
