Isaac Patton Maggard's Obituary
Isaac Patton Maggard, age 80, of Oakdale, IL passed away on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 5:10 a.m. in his home. Isaac was born on July 9, 1926 in Big Stone Gap, VA, a son to I.P. and Francis (Holcomb) Maggard. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II in the South Pacific. He married Kathryn (Stonum) Broadwater on November 28, 1986 in Morehead, KY and she survives. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad, was a member of the Concord Baptist Church, and a lifetime member of the D.A.V., Coulterville V.F.W., and Nashville American Legion. Survivors include his wife: Kathryn "Kay" of Oakdale, one stepson: Russell and Wilma Broadwater of Oakdale, two brothers: Bill and Winona Maggard of Big Stone Gap, VA, and Tom Maggard of Winchester, KY, one sister: Dorothy and Chester Mullins of Big Stone Gap, VA, two step-grandchildren: Kelly and Chris Marston, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Gene and Woody Maggard, and one sister-in-law: Daisy Maggard. Funeral services will be held at Concord Baptist Church, Rice, IL on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Tom Spiller officiating. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery. Friends may call at Concord Baptist Church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until services. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
