Irene E. Coates' Obituary
Irene E. Coates, age 89, of Coulterville, IL passed away on Saturday, July 04, 2009 at 2:18 a.m. in Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL. Irene was born on September 2, 1919 in Perry County, IL a daughter to Henry Edward and Myrtle G. (Trefts) Miller. On June 2, 1941 she married William Henry Coates in Riverside, CA by a Methodist minister, Pastor H.E. Taylor and he preceded her in death on October 22, 2000. Irene lived and worked on a farm south of Coulterville, IL during her younger years, then lived in Scottsdale, AZ for ten years working as a janitor at a high school and then retuned back to Coulterville to raise her family. She was a member of Winkle Baptist Church and Royal Neighbors. Irene enjoyed quilting, sewing, walking her dogs and gardening with her husband, but especially loved caring for her family and grandchildren. Irene is survived by one son: Bill (Shirley) Coates of Coulterville, IL, one daughter: Marilyn Newsome of Charleston, SC, six grandchildren: Timothy Coates of West Frankfort, IL, Bobby (Wanda) Newsome of Wilmington, NC, Kendra Hargis of St. Libory, IL, Steven Coates and Matthew (Heather) Coates all of Belleville, IL and Cindy (Richard) Rovinsky of Charleston, SC, three step-grandchildren: Ray (Ann) Hill of Rosemont, MO, Cindy (Tony) Dauge of New Haven, MO and Joey Favier of Chester, IL, four great-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren and four step- great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Eugene Lee Coates, one brother and one son-in-law: Larry Newsome. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Clifton Lingle officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Coulterville Care Center or the American Cancer Society.
