Iona E. Overend's Obituary
Iona E. "Jeep" nee Hoffman Overend, age 80, of Pinckneyville, IL passed away at Washington County Hospital, Nashville, IL at 7:01 a.m. on Wednesday July 2, 2008. Iona was born on April 5, 1928 in Rice, IL, a daughter to Harry and Clara (Hubler) Hoffman. In November 1949, she married James Overend and he preceded her in death in May 1966. Iona was of the Baptist faith. She worked as an entertainer and waitress for over thirty years. Iona was a member of the Musicians Union, played the drums and was an avid golfer. She is survived by one brother: Paul "Dean" (Charlotte) Hoffman of Pinckneyville, IL, a special nephew: Terry (Pam) Jackson of Pinckneyville, IL, numerous other nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Iona is preceded in death by: her parents, husband, four sisters: Louise Frederking, Lorraine Frederking, Ilene Rupecht and Alice Hoffman, a brother: Harry 'Bud' Hoffman and a very special friend: Robert Dickey. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend J. Mark Harris, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Concord Baptist Cemetery, Rice, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Nashville, IL.
