I. Calvin Knapp's Obituary
Calvin Knapp, age 100, of Pinckneyville, passed away on July 1, 2007 at 1:15 a.m. in Pinckneyville Health Care Center. Calvin was born on June 16, 1907 in Jefferson County, IL, a son to Ira and Mabel (Mumbower) Knapp. He married Ruth Sronce and she preceded him in death. In 1958, he married Beulah (Wilks) Wasson and she preceded him in death on February 16, 1988. He retired as coal miner at Consolidated Coal Company, was a Master Mason for over 50 years, and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville and the UMWA. Survivors include two grandchildren: Steve and wife Sharon Knapp of Mesa, AZ, and Karen and husband Gregory Friedman of Portland, OR, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law: Earlene Knapp of Oregon, a sister-in-law: Velma Toedte of Pinckneyville and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one son: Louis Gene Knapp, two brothers: Delph Knapp and Nelson Knapp, and one sister: Delora Moore. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Cindy Bean officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Monday from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. Masonic rites will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville.
