Howard J. Valentine's Obituary
Howard J. Valentine, age 77, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 2:15 p.m. in his home. Howard was born on February 22, 1938 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Carl and Rose (Bathon) Valentine. On September 6, 1958, he married Margaret Jane Brand in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Todds Mill, IL and she preceded him in death on February 1, 2015. Howard was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Todds Mill, IL. He had worked as a truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service, for the City of Pinckneyville, was a coal miner for Consolidated Coal and drove a truck for Ryterski Trucking. Howard was also a member of UMWA Local #1825 and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved working on his tractors and attending the Thresherman events. Survivors include one son, Douglas (Connie) Valentine of Pinckneyville, IL; two daughters, Debbie (Steve) McKinstry of Pinckneyville, IL and Darlene (Rudy) Stowers of Pinckneyville, IL; nine grandchildren, Kacie (LePoris) Jackson of Lompoc, CA, Ryan (Stephanie) Valentine of Pinckneyville, IL, David (Rachel) McKinstry of Sparta, IL, Brandy Hougland (fiancée, Cory Draper) of Pinckneyville, IL, Lyndsey (Reggie) Epplin of Pinckneyville, IL, Ashley (Robbie) Lunnemann of Tamaroa,; Jon McKinstry of Pinckneyville, IL Marissa Stowers and Hunter Stowers; seven great-grandchildren, Chesney Epplin, Madalyn Lunnemann, Jackson McKinstry, Everleigh Epplin, Rylin Lunnemann, Harper McKinstry and Alex Hagene; one brother, Harold Valentine of Tamaroa, IL; one sister, Eileen Suda of Seattle, WA; two half-sisters, Nancy Gibbs of Bristol, WI and Sharon (Tom) Malach of Cary, IL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Kenneth Valentine and one sister, Alene Skurat. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Todds Mill, IL on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Bernard Goedde officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Cemetery, Todds Mill, IL. Friends may call at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning at the church from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Masses or St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
