Howard K. Frieman's Obituary
Howard K. Frieman, age 98, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 11:19 a.m. in Sparta Community Hospital Sparta, IL. Howard was born on November 5, 1915 in Coulterville, IL a son to Albert and Nellie (Kurtz) Frieman. On April 28, 1937, he married Sylvia Waller in Decatur, IL and she preceded him in death on January 1, 1988. Howard was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during WW II where he earned a Bronze Star medal. He was a coal miner for over 40 years, having worked for the East Mine, West Mine and Green Diamond Mine. Howard was a farmer, mechanic and a member of the United Mine Workers. He enjoyed fishing and many years ago he enjoyed coon hunting, metal working and welding. Survivors include three children, Lacene (Clifton) Lingle of Coulterville, IL, Phyllis Wenzel of Coulterville, IL and James Frieman (friend, Jan Bogenpohl) of Coulterville IL; grandchildren, John (Karen) Hlavaty of Coulterville, IL, Michelle (Matt) Marshall of Virginia Beach, VA, Michael Thorbin of Elkville, IL, Scott (Sara) Frieman of Wichita, KS and Jessica (Derek) Gentry of Rockwood, IL; ten great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Velma Lawless and infant brother, Kenneth Lee Frieman. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Wilbur Franklin officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Military rites will be provided by V.F.W. Post 6865, Coulterville, IL Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
