Homer "Pete" McDonnough, age 85, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 4:39 p.m., in Marshall Browning Hospital, DuQuoin, IL.
Pete was born on May 26, 1937 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Robert Cullen and Effie Dora (Davis) McDonnough. On October 20, 1967, he married Wilma Jean Vancil at Roe's Dale Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. He had worked as a farmer and a coal miner, doing mine construction for the Captain Mine, Pinckneyville, IL. After 28 years he retired from Arch Minerals, Captain Mine, Pinckneyville, IL. Pete was a member of the Roe's Dale Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL who enjoyed farming. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Pete will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Wilma Jean McDonnough of Pinckneyville, Il; two sons, Mike McDonnough of Pinckneyville, IL, and Bobby (Jessica) McDonnough of Pinckneyville, IL; one sister, Deloris (Jim) Getzie of Pinckneyville, IL; one granddaughter, Emily McDonnough; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Timothy Wayne "Tim" McDonnough; two brothers, Russell McDonnough, and Bill McDonnough; one sister, Verlean Henson.
Funeral services will be at Roe's Dale Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lee Valerius officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill, Pinckneyvillle, IL.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning at the church from 10:00 am until 11:00 a.m.
