Herminia "Hattie" Taylor's Obituary
Herminia "Hattie" Taylor, age 86, of Coulterville, IL, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, May 22, 2023 in Mercy Hospital South, St. Louis, MO.
Hattie was born on January 26, 1937 in Azorés Island, Portugual, a daughter to John and Angela (Mattos) Bernado. Her first husband was Fred Vogel, Sr. They were married in Azorés Island, Portugual and he passed away on March 19, 2003. On May 9, 1981, she married Warren Taylor in California and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2002. Hattie was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL and had retired as a home health aide for Addus HomeCare. She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, knitting, fishing, and traveling and was a member of the Coulterville VFW Auxiliary. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Fred Vogel, Jr of Coulterville, IL; a daughter, Susan (Kevin) Huggins of Coulterville, IL; a brother, Roger DaSilva of California; three sisters, Gorginia (Fernando) De Fatioma of California, Adelaide DaSilva of Lisbon; and Maria Bettencourt of Azorés Island, Portugual; two granddaughters, Angela Kenner and Jessica Shockley; five great-grandchildren, Xander Kenner, Dominic Kenner, Natilie Kenner, Tyler Leftwich, and Zoie Shockley; one great-great-granddaughter, Ava Mireles and a set of twins due in July; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren Taylor; a daughter, Betty Ann Vogel; an infant son; a granddaughter, Sue Ellen Huggins; and one sister, Regina Homen.
Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Christopher Anyanwu officiating. Interment will be in Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL.
Visitation will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The rosary will be recited on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church.
