Helen L. Martin's Obituary
Helen L. Martin, age 79, of Marissa, IL, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Helen was born on September 23, 1945 in Sparta, IL, a daughter to Loren and Stella (Todd) Schwartzkopf. On August 8, 1986, she married Michael Martin at the Methodist Church in Sparta, IL and he survives her. Helen retired from Wal-Mart working in marketing for over twenty years. Helen was of the Methodist faith who, for many years, taught Sunday School at the Methodist Church in Coulterville, IL. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan who also enjoyed watching The Young and the Restless. Helen loved reading and was a great cook. Her passion was spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Michael Martin of Marissa, IL; four children, Denise Ingram of Marissa, IL, Melanie Barron of Coulterville, IL, Jack (Ashley) Malott of St. Libory, IL, and Rachelle (James) Ritchason of Marissa, IL; four siblings, Phyllis Cupp of Marissa, IL, John (Pearl) Schwartzkopf of Marissa, IL, Paul (Liz) Schwartzkopf of Kissimmee, FL, and Sam Schwartzkopf of Marissa, IL; six grandchildren, Danielle Smith, Ty Raaymakers, Gunner Malott, Emily Ritchason, Katelynn Ritchason, and Gemma Malott; and one great-grandchild, Chesney Harvel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Larry Schwartzkopf; mother and father in law, Robert (Barb) Martin.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Mike Higgerson officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the March of Dimes.
