Harold Dean Phillips' Obituary
Harold Dean Phillips, age 76, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 7:04 p.m., in Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, IL.
Dean was born on July 5, 1948, in Perry County, IL, a son to Charles “Elmer” and Roberta I. (Hays) Phillips. Dean attended Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. On November 25, 1972, he married Clara Jane Carpenter in Centralia, IL, and she survives. Dean proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked and retired as a roof bolter for the coal mine. Dean enjoyed playing washers and being outdoors, especially using his metal detector. He loved to bowl and even bowled a perfect 300 game. Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing, and took great pride in his beautiful yard. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Jane Phillips of Pinckneyville, IL; one son, Justin (Ashley) Phillips of Pinckneyville, IL; one brother, Carl Gene Phillips of DuQuoin, IL; one sister, Carolyn Sue (Jack) Hutchings of Pinckneyville, IL; and one grandson, Brycen Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Ryker Phillips.
A funeral service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 12:00 p.m., with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the family.
