H. Roy "Silent" Burnett's Obituary
Roy "Silent" Burnett, age 73, of Tilden, IL, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 9:00 p.m. in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL.
Roy was born on March 19, 1947 in Belleville, IL, a son to Herbert Lloyd "Monk" and Elizabeth Ann (Hill) Burnett. On October 10, 1970 he married Susan K. "Sue" Whipple in Morton, IL, they shared fifty wonderful years together and she survives. H. Roy had worked for Zeigler Mine as a coal miner. He was a member of Winkle Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and U.M.W.A. H. Roy enjoyed building model ships and loved spending time around children.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Susan K. "Sue" Burnett of Tilden, IL; one son, Roy H. Burnett of Nashville, IL; one daughter, Merie C. Burnett ( Jason Carson) of Pinckneyville, IL; special great-nephew, Jesse Woodside of Tilden, IL; four brothers, Lloyd Roger Burnett of Nashville, TN, Robert James Burnett of Mascoutah, IL, Edward Ray Burnett of Coulterville, IL, and H. Leroy (Irma) Burnett of Morton, IL; one sister, Alberta Marie Woodside of Coulterville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Eugene Burnett; and one sister, Arlene Hackworth.
Roy's wishes were to be cremated and celebration of life held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the family.
