Gertrude P. Kretz's Obituary
Gretrude P. Kretz, age 92, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 1:20 a.m. in Washington County Hospital Extended Care, Nashville, IL.
Gertrude was born on August 19, 1915 in St. Louis, MO, a daughter to Charles and Pearl (Griggs) Cortelyou. On August 20, 1939, she married George Kretz in St. Louis, MO and he preceded her in death on August 26, 1979. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, VFW Auxiliary, Pinckneyville, and loved traveling.
Survivors include her daughters: Nancy (Larry) Thompson of Pinckneyville, and Sara Bauza of Nashville, five grandchildren: Shelley Payne of Carterville, Lisa (Larry) Valier of DuQuoin, Mark (Chrystal) Thompson of Harrisburg, Kevin (Monya) Bauza of Oakdale, and Kerry (Rob) Henderson of Nashville, and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: William and Charles "Bud" Cortelyou, and one son-in-law: Alois Bauza.
Funeral Services will be held at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Rick Hatley officiating. Interment will be in Ashley Cemetery, Ashley, IL.
Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Memorial donations may be given to American Cancer Society.
