Gerhardt L. "Gary" Schwarz, age 93, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 9:38 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL. Gary was born on August 16, 1921 in Pinckneyville, IL a son to Carl and Lydia K. (Wildermuth) Schwarz. On September 4, 1948 he married Edna M. Schrader in Trinity Lutheran Church, Conant, IL and she preceded him in death on September 7, 2014. Gary was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during WWII. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Pinckneyville, IL the Lutheran laymen and worked at My-T-Fine Pudding, Pinckneyville, IL for over 30 years. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, walking his dog Snickers and gardening. Survivors include son, Jerry Schwarz of Pinckneyville, IL; grandson, Skyler Schwarz of DuQuoin, IL; daughter-in-law, Donna Schwarz of DuQuoin, IL; one sister, Clara Abernathy of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law, LaVerna Schwarz of Pinckneyville, IL; numerous brothers-in-law; sisters, in-law; nieces; nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna M. Schwarz; son, Mark Dean Schwarz; three brothers, Harold Schwarz, Edgar Schwarz and Robert Schwarz. Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend David Kollmeyer officiating. Interment will be in Lost Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Military graveside service provided by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Lost Prairie Cemetery.
