Gerald "Chicken" R. Little's Obituary
Gerald R. "Chicken" Little, age 75, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 6:05 p.m. in Pinckneyville Health Care Center, Pinckneyville, IL. Gerald was born on August 15, 1937 in Coulterville, IL, a son to Leonard W. and Margaret Velma (Torrens) Little. He was a veteran of the United States Army proudly serving his country while stationed in Germany. On January 24, 1959, he married Rosalie Hill at the First Baptist Church, Sparta, IL and she survives. Gerald had retired as a supervisor of Human Resources for Arch of Illinois Coal Company after over 20 years of service. He was a member of the Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church, Eden, IL. He enjoyed fishing and loved his grandkids and spending time with them. He devoted his life to his family. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Rosalie Little of Pinckneyville, IL; two daughters, Patti (Danny) Carns of Pinckneyville, IL and Cindy (James) Bathon of Carbondale, IL; two brothers, Merle Little of Tilden, IL and Rodney Little of Sparta, IL; three sisters, Leota Styles of Omaha, NE, Martha (Jeff) Rogers of Collinsville, IL and Margaret Lloyd of Marissa, IL; three sisters-in-law, Eileen Little of Marissa, IL, Ruth Little of Sparta, IL and Yvonne Little of Coulterville, IL; and seven grandchildren, Jami L. (Lucas) Pulley, Erica D. (Anthony) Raciak, Chad R. Carns, Jerod M. Bathon, Clay M. Carns, Jessi K.M. Bathon and Elyssa G. Carns. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Nina Belle Hindman, Velva Birkenmeier and Roberta Harris; four brothers, Marvin Little, Leonard Little, David Little and Bill Little; two brothers-in-law, Carl Styles and Leo Birkenmeier; and one sister-in-law, Brenda Little. Funeral services will be held at Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church, Eden, IL on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Tommy Foster officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL with military graveside rites by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church, Eden, IL on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of arrangements.
