George E. Miles' Obituary
George E. Miles, age 85, of Coulterville, IL passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 9:54 p.m., in his home.
George was born on October 18, 1939, in Coulterville, IL, a son to Stephen A. and Eva (Hamilton) Miles. On August 16, 1969, he married Joyce Knope at Coulterville Methodist Church, in Coulterville, IL and she survives. George honorably served his country in the United States Navy. George worked as an electrician for Illinois Power, Ameren, and Miles Electrical for many years. He started the Coulterville Jaycees and was the president of the Grand Cote Cruisers. George loved western movies, western attire, classic cars, the St. Louis Cardinals, and was a collector of Beer steins. He decorated and designed a big Christmas lights display for 55 years. George will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joyce Miles of Coulterville, IL; five children, Jeff Miller of Coulterville, IL, Donnie Miles of Coulterville, IL, Mike Miles of Belleville, IL, Michelle Jeter of Coulterville, IL, and Patty Kopp of Millstadt, IL; one brother, Stephen Miles of Coulterville, IL; one sister, Sylvia Hoffman; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Evelyn Meder and Mildred Vollmer.
A funeral service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor James Clardy officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL, on Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Coulterville Fire Department.
