George W. Kohlhaas, Jr.'s Obituary
George W. "Fat" Kohlhaas, Jr. age 92, of Coulterville, IL, died Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL. Fat was born on January 30, 1915 in Matthews, IL, a son to George W., Sr. and Anna Mary (Poigne) Kohlhaas. He married June Rose Scholebo on April 15, 1961 in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. In his lifetime, he had worked on the railroad, at a sawmill, as an ironworker and a farmer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sitting on the porch watching cars go by, and was an avid gardener. Survivors include his wife: June Rose Kohlhaas of Coulterville, four children: Rosemary and husband Paul Douglas of Coulterville, Bill Kohlhaas and friend Sue Lange of Coulterville, Anna Marie and husband Chester Hood of Sparta, and David W. and wife Sarah Kohlhaas of Sparta, two stepsons: Robert and wife Toni Douglas of Coulterville, and Danny and wife Cindy Seiber of Marissa, one sister: Leona "Jackie" Moore of Sparta, eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Jennings Kohlhaas, and Benjamin Kohlhaas, four sisters: Viola Busby, Dora Blue, Lorene Lannom, and Lillian Hill, and one step-grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, Coulterville with Bro. Kenneth Robinson officiating. Interment will be in the Coulterville City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Coulterville, on Sunday, March 4, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and then at the church on Monday, March 5, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
