Geneva L. Davis' Obituary
Geneva L. Davis, age 98, of Pinckneyville, IL went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 4, 2008, at 4:36 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital. Geneva was born in Jefferson County, IL, near Mount Vernon on September 2, 1909, the daughter of Charles and Gussie (Campbell) Hicks. She was united in marriage to Delbert A. Davis on September 25, 1930 in Oakdale, IL, and he preceded her in death on February 6, 1986. Geneva enjoyed quilting and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Pinckneyville. Survivors include one daughter: Wanda Skorczewski and husband John, one son: Allen Davis and wife Roberta, all of Pinckneyville, IL, 5 grandchildren: Debbie Hitt and husband Steve, of Tamaroa, IL, Donita Nehrkorn and husband John of Pinckneyville, IL, Jeff Davis and wife Kathy of Pinckneyville, IL, Donnie Davis and wife Buffie of Percy, IL, and Beth Sapp and husband Tim of Pinckneyville, IL, 11 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law: Marie Hicks of Morton, IL, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Delbert, one daughter in infancy, two brothers: Lyle and Paul Hicks, one grandson: Danny Giacomo. Funeral Services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 with Bro. Jeff Tucker officiating. Interment will be in the Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville. Friends may call at the Pyatt Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
