Fred Walters Jr.'s Obituary
Fred Walters Jr., age 88, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 9:47 p.m. in the VA Nursing Home, Marion, IL. Fred was born on May 28, 1929 in East St. Louis, IL, a son to Fred Sr. and Lucille (Shrum) Walters. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. On January 20, 1953, he married Marie Kline in Arkansas and she survives. Fred was a laborer in the construction business for 42 years. He was a member of Laborers Local 100, was very artistic, loved woodworking and sculpting and belonged to a writing class. Survivors include his wife, Marie Walters of Pinckneyville, IL; three children, Fredrick (Alta) Walters of Pinckneyville, IL, Carolyn Eickmann (special friend, Paul Morpurgo) of Pinckneyville, IL and Darryl Walters (special friend, Cindy) of Fairview Heights, IL; two brothers, Don (Rita) Walters of Arizona and Jerry (Marilyn) Walters of Waterloo, IL; two sisters, Wanda Irwin of Maitland, FL and Sharon (Wayne) Gray of Freeburg, IL; seven grandchildren, Brad Allen Walters of St. Louis, MO, Lacey Barnett of Edwardsville, IL, Tori and Tessa Eickmann both of Pinckneyville, IL, Chris Savu of Missouri; Cassie Walters of Greenville, IL and Ashley McCoy; two great-grandchildren, Vivian Barnett and Rosie Adams. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl Walters and Glenn Walters; and one sister, Doris Phillips. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL with military rites performed by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
