Frances Wright's Obituary
Frances Irene Wright, age 91, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 1:31 a.m., in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pinckneyville, IL.
Frances was born on April 10, 1933 in Van Buren, MO, a daughter to Francis Claud and Pansy Irene (Burns) Shrum. On December 2, 1950 she married John "Leo" Wright in Todds Mill, IL, and after 51 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on March 28, 2002. She worked for many years as a supervisor at Decca Records. Frances was a greeter at Wal-Mart in Sparta, IL, she made pizza and doughnuts at Casey's in Coulterville, IL, and worked at the Nashville, IL Hardees and Subway restaurants.
Frances was a member of St. Mary Magdalen's Catholic Church, Todds Mill, IL, and the Mothers Club, as well as a member of the Catholic Daughters Association. She would volunteer her time for Hospice - St. Louis, MO. She loved sewing, crocheting, quilting, and embroidery. She enjoyed baking, especially German chocolate cake, blackberry cobbler and rolls. Frances was famous for her hillbilly cooking, specifically her chicken and dumplings and fried potatoes.
Survivors include her two sons, Michael Leo (Joann) Wright of Festus, MO, and Kevin (Carrie) Hardin of Pinckneyville, IL; two daughters, Elaine Heard of Elkville, IL and Sharon (Cletus) Suemnicht of Sparta, IL; one brother, Ronald Shrum of Pinckneyville, IL; one sister, Claudette Shrum of Colorado; ten grandchildren, Christopher (Andrea) Wright, Melissa (Craig) Harmon, Phillip (Christina) Suemnicht, Tracy (Daniel) Spirk, Keri Heard, Brandon Hardin, Dylan Hardin, Tabatha Kroening, Josh Kroening, Isaac (Lauren) Hardin; and eleven great-grandchildren, John Suemnicht, Christopher Michael Wright, II, Jeremiah Spirk, Caleb Spirk, Oliver Spirk, Gavynn Harmon, Brenynn Harmon, Mila Hardin, Urijah Weiss, Iziah Kroening, and Paisley Pribble.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo; three brothers, William L. "Bill" Shrum, Frank Shrum, and Gerald Shrum; and two sisters, Evelyn Faye Wisdom and Shirley Tucker.
Frances' wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date and time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
