Forest Wayne Vickery's Obituary
Forest W. Vickery, age 72, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024 in Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, IL.
Forest was born on March 1, 1952 in St. Louis, MO, a son to Bernell and Reatha (Goss) Vickery. On July 4, 1985, he married Carolyn K. Steuer in Salem, IL, and she survives him. Forest had worked for numerous trucking companies as a truck driver for over 30 years. He was of the Baptist faith. Forest enjoyed working in the yard, watching westerns, especially if they had John Wayne, and being a farmer. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Carolyn Vickery of Pinckneyville, IL; his mom, Reatha Vickery of Coulterville, IL; two daughters, Kendra (John) Wiley of Hendersonville, TN and Reatha (David) Hahn of Carterville, IL; one sister, Diana Smith of Murphysboro, IL; four grandchildren, Luke Wiley and Emma Wiley, both of Chattanooga, TN, and Addie Hahn and Joshua Hahn, both of Carterville, IL; one sister-in-law, Susan Vickery of Oakdale, IL; special neighbors, the Dudek family; special dog, Blondie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernell Vickery and brother, Steve Vickery.
He will be cremated and the family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SIH Cancer Institute or Coach Kill Foundation.
