Floyd Kempfer, Sr.'s Obituary
Floyd Kempfer, Sr., age 95, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 9:20 p.m. in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, O'Fallon IL.
Floyd was born April 7, 1925 in Evansville, IL, a son to William H. and Mildred (Ledbetter) Kempfer. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On July 19, 1946, he married Dorothy Boyster in East St. Louis, IL. She preceded him in death on September 20, 1995. Floyd worked as an apprentice at World Color Press for 13 years. He was a member of the Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church, Eden, IL. Floyd was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, an excellent gardener and loved baseball.
Survivors include his twelve children, eight sons, Floyd Jr. (Barbara) Kempfer of Sparta, IL, Tommie (Melanie) Kempfer of Irvington, IL, Larry Kempfer of Coulterville, IL, Clarence (Karen) Kempfer of Coulterville, IL, Leonard (Deborah) Kempfer of Coulterville, IL, Robert Kempfer of Coulterville, IL, Kenneth (Debra) of Coulterville, IL, and Dwayne Kempfer (Terry) of Coulterville, IL; four daughters, Dorothy (Rick) Rhodes of Coulterville IL, Patty Loos (Sam) of Coulterville, IL, Loretta (Dennis) Jones of Mascoutah, IL, and Christine Stapleton of Coulterville, IL; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Cleon Kempfer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Kempfer; six brothers, Herbert, Raymond, George, Charles, Archie and Darrell Kempfer; two sisters, Bernice Kempfer and Lorene Dickerson; a daughter-in-law, Sherrie Kempfer; and a great-granddaughter, Alexis Holtzman.
A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at the Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL with Pastor Tom Foster officiating. A webcast video will be available on our Facebook page following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church, Eden, IL.
Due to health concerns related to the Covid-19 virus and by the signing of executive order by Governor J.B. Pritzker, attendance will be limited and social distancing will be enforced.
