Floyd Giacomo's Obituary
Floyd Giacomo, age 80, of Elkton, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 9:47 a.m. in his home surrounded by his family. Floyd was born on September 5, 1936 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Charlie and Mae (Coates) Giacomo. On June 3, 1974, he married Launa Kay Zacheis and she survives. He had worked with Labor Local 459 and was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church, Oakdale, IL. Floyd enjoyed hunting and metal detecting but his greatest joy was spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Launa Giacomo; four sons, Paul (Dana) Rice, Josh (Stacey) Giacomo, Caleb (Danielle) Giacomo and Charlie (Trista) Giacomo; three daughters, Alice Davis, Melody (Tim) Schaeffer and Jenny (Bob) Etling; four brothers, Ted Giacomo, Pete Giacomo, Jim (Janet) Giacomo and Butch (Susie) Giacomo; four sisters, Rose Lawless, Mary Schaefer, Vera Reese and Betty Aaron; twenty-one grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Deborah Giacomo; a son-in-law, Carl Davis; a brother, Eule Giacomo; and a sister, Elizabeth Giacomo. Funeral services will be held at Oakdale Baptist Church, Oakdale, IL on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Roger Long and Brother Fred Pringle officiating. Interment will be in Elkton Cemetery, Elkton, IL. Friends may call at Oakdale Baptist Church, Oakdale, IL on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church, Oakdale Grade School, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or Colon Cancer Alliance.
