Floyd C. Foertsch's Obituary
Floyd C. Foertsch, age 88, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at 11:03 p.m. peacefully at his home. Floyd was born on May 22, 1922 in rural Sparta, IL, a son to Andrew and Maggie (Rheinhardt) Foertsch. On August 6, 1947, he married Genevieve Bouas in Walnut Ridge, AR and she preceded him in death on August 18, 1988. Floyd was a farmer and a pioneer in organic farming, a member of the National Farm Organization and a founding member of the Pilgrim Wildlife District. He was elected constable for two terms in Perry County and then was appointed Special Deputy for the Perry County Sherriff in the mid 1950's. He enjoyed baseball and dearly loved spending time in the wood and observing wildlife. Floyd is survived by his special friend and companion; Frances Athy of Coulterville, IL and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Vernon and William; and two sisters, Mae and Flora. Graveside services will be held at Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Paul Horn officiating. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
