Floyd Dean Knope's Obituary
Floyd Dean Knope, age 70, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 5:40 p.m. in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehab Center, Pinckneyville, IL. Floyd won his battle of nearly 7 years of cancer.
Floyd was born on February 19, 1949 in DuQuoin, IL, a son to Emmett and Frances (Reed) Knope. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served during the Vietnam War. On May 31, 1969, he married Deborah "Debbie" Boelling in Coulterville, IL and she survives. Floyd had worked as a coal miner for over 19 years and then as a truck driver for Beelman Trucking. He was of the Methodist faith and a lifetime member of the Coulterville V.F.W., the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation and previous member of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club. Floyd was a proud supporter of the Disabled American Veterans, the Wounded Warrior Project and the Humane Society. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davison, fishing and working on old cars with his brother and especially loved spending time with his friends and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Deborah "Debbie" Knope of Coulterville, IL; a daughter Dawn Renee (Chris) Smith of Herrin, IL; a brother, Alvin "Bud" (Delores) Knope of Coulterville, IL; two sisters, Joyce (George) Miles of Coulterville, IL and Darlene (Danny) Ogilvie of Coulterville, IL; a sister-in-law, Kimberly Maricle of Oaklawn, IL; two grandsons, Devon (Stephanie) Lohman of Portage, IN and Erik Smith of Herrin, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Floyd's wishes were to be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
