Florence Geneva Griffin's Obituary
Florence Geneva Griffin 97, of Pinckneyville, IL passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 9:52 p.m., in Fairview Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Du Quoin, IL.
Florence was born on July 11, 1928, in Cutler, IL, a daughter to Charles Glenn and Edna Gertrude (Egbert) Brown. On November 20, 1947, she married Glenn Allen Griffin in Nashville, IL. and he preceded her in death on April 22, 2003.
Florence worked for Forest City dress factory, Pinckneyville True Value, and in the dietary department of Pinckneyville Community Hospital. She was a Girl Scout leader and the Perry County Cookie Chairman. She had been a member of The Busy Hands Woman’s Club, she loved crafting, sewing, and made quilts for the children at St. Jude’s Research Hospital. Florence had been the secretary for the Swanwick Bethel Cemetery Association for several years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, going to football games, dance competitions, and other school activities. She also enjoyed the day program at Perry County Gold Plate.
She is survived by one son, William G. (Barb) Griffin of Pinckneyville, IL; three daughters, Judy Hawkins of Pinckneyville, IL, Joan Hopp of Pinckneyville, IL, and Michelle (Bruce) Rodely Du Quoin, IL; daughter-in-law, Paulette (Norman) Keene; nine grandchildren, Reese and Reagan Rodely, Chad (Julie) Griffin, Leslie (Jeff) Miller, Shane (Karin) Hawkins, Jacqueline (Marie) Griffin, Amber Hopp, Shauna (Shawn) Yadloski, and Addrienne Griffin; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter and son in law Sue (Donnie) Robb; son-in-law Thomas Hawkins; a brother and sister-in-law, Burnell (Helen) Brown; a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn (Jim) Hill; and a sister-in-law Billie June Brown.
A funeral service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Greg Whaley officiating. Interment will be in Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Swanwick Bethel Cemetery Association, and Perry County Gold Plate.
