Flora Mae Brawley's Obituary
Flora Mae Brawley, age 80, of Swanwick, IL, formerly of Cutler, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 9:51 p.m. in Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL.
Flora was born on April 30, 1941 in Murphysboro, IL, a daughter to Woodrow and Addie M. (Blaise) Mason. After her father died when she was only 6 months of age, her mother married his brother, Charles Mason, who raised and loved Flora as his own daughter. On January 4, 1960, she married Wilford S. Brawley in Chester, IL. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2004 after 44 years of marriage. She was a member of Landmark Apostolic Church, Sparta, IL, where she was lovingly labeled the "Troublemaker". Flora had worked as a clerk at True Value Hardware, Steeleville, IL for a number of years. She enjoyed puzzles and reading her bible. Her greatest joy though came from taking care of her grandsons.
Survivors include her two daughters, Becky (Edward) Etherton of Willisville, IL and Teri Fisher of Swanwick, IL; two grandsons, Christopher Etherton of Willisville, IL and Tanner Fisher of Swanwick, IL; two brothers, Robert (Debbie) Mason of Jasper, AL and Johnnie (Brenda) Mason of Cutler, IL; three sisters, Barbara (David) Staats of Springfield, IL, Sandy Mason of Swanwick, IL and Nilma Smith of Marissa, IL; and two brothers-in-law, Don Brawley of Steeleville, IL and Skip Brawley of Willisville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her mother and both fathers; husband, Wilford Brawley; a grandson, Patrick Brawley; a brother, Harold Mason; a brother-in-law, Truman Brawley; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Wilson.
Graveside services will be held at Cutler Cemetery, Cutler, IL on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Doug Rice officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Landmark Apostolic Church Building Fund, Sparta, IL.
