Evelyn Ticer- Cherry- Marable's Obituary
Evelyn Ticer-Cherry-Marable, age 96, of Pinckneyville, IL, formally of Collinsville, IL and State Park, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at 11:46 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Evelyn was born on April 24, 1924 in Sand Ridge, IL, a daughter to Elmer and Ethel Mae (Neace) Ticer. She married Ray LeRoy Cherry. He passed away on November 3, 1993 after 40 years of marriage. On February 14, 1995 in Fairview Heights, she married Robert Marable who preceded her on September 17, 2013. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking. Evelyn was known for her custard pies. She loved listening to Southern Gospel Music, animals and being a grandmother. Several children referred to her as "Grandma". Evelyn was associated with the Winkle Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Ray (Dorothy) Cherry of Bunker Hill, IL and Jule (Delene) Rushing of Coulterville, IL; one grandchild, Kyle Edward Rushing of Coulterville, IL; three sisters, Vivian (Jim) Martin of Mattoon, IL, Ruby (Ralph) Martin of Ava, IL and Josephine Gassel of Chicago, IL.; three step-daughters, Wanda Fay, Brenda and Sandy; and honorary grandchildren, David (Dawn) Slater of Collinsville, IL, Dennis (Brandie) Slater of Collinsville, IL, and Daniel (Wendy) Slater of Collinsville, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Ray Leroy Cherry and Robert Marable; three brothers, Bud Ticer, Jackie Ticer and Paul Jackson Porter; and two sisters, Dorothy Porter and Anna Marie Conners.
A memorial service will be held in Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Downard officiating. A committal service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., in St. John's Cemetery in Collinsville, IL. The funeral home requests that all attendees wear a mask.
A memorial visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral home requests that all attendees wear a mask.
Due to health concerns related to the Covid-19 virus and by the signing of executive order by Governor J.B. Pritzker, Phase Four attendance will be limited to 50 people and social distancing will be enforced.
Memorial donations may be made to Carmi Baptist Children's Home.
