Evelyn Anne Morgenthaler's Obituary
Evelyn Anne Morgenthaler, age 89, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 7:02 p.m., in Washington County Hospital, Nashville, IL, surrounded by family.
Evelyn was born on September 18, 1935 in Swanwick, IL, a daughter to Robert Leslie and Evelyn Angeline (Rudloff) Haggard. On June 11, 1955, she married Nelson Lee Morgenthaler at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on December 3, 2008. She worked at Decca Records, was a cook’s helper at #204 Consolidated School, upholstered furniture, and sold Rawleigh Products. Evelyn was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. She was the best babysitter of all time for her grandchildren and loved spending time with family. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, gardening, canning, cooking and baking pies. Evelyn enjoyed going to the American Thresherman’s Show, as well as auctions and flea markets. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Dale (LeAnn) Morgenthaler of DuQuoin, IL, Dana (Jeff) Pritchett of Pinckneyville, IL, and Doris (George) Wilson of Harrisburg, IL; one brother, Robert E. Haggard of DuQuoin, IL; seven grandchildren, Lauren (Wes) Straatmann, Morgan (Nathan) Chester, Jason Wilson, Christopher (Krystal) Wilson, Patrick (Kacie) Lang, Dylan Pritchett (Morgan Gleason), and Jared Pritchett; fifteen great-grandchildren, Logan, Ryan, Bella, Lane, Mark, Abigale, Katelyn, Gabby, Grayson, Allie, Anniston, Emerson, Grant, Alexandra, and Rylynn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband; one brother, Donald Leslie Haggard; and one sister, Nancy Jane Haggard who died in infancy.
Memorial services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., with Nathan Chester and Christopher Wilson officiating. Interment will be at Holt’s Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
