Evelyn Kohring's Obituary
Evelyn Kohring, age 92, of Oakdale, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 in Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Nashville, IL. Evelyn was born on June 11, 1920 in Elkton, IL, a daughter to Edward H. and Sarah Elizabeth (Carr) Kroener. On December 26, 1948, she married Ray E. Kohring in the Kroener family home in Elkton, IL and he preceded her in death on December 8, 1998. Evelyn was a school teacher for 33 years, starting her career in one room schools. She taught at Okawville Grade School, retiring in May 1981 after 19 years. Evelyn was a member of the Oakdale United Presbyterian Church, Oakdale, IL and the Washington County Retired Teachers Association. She loved roses, a good book and coffee with her pie. Survivors include a son, Ray E. (Carolyn) Kohring of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Sara (Dennis) Brammeier of Oakdale, IL; four grandchildren, Timothy (Allison) Kohring and Daniel Kohring all of Raleigh, NC, Katherine (Brian) Dunneback of Bloomington, IL, and Mary (Michael) Cotton of O'Fallon, IL; three great-grandchildren, Kyle and Connor Dunneback of Bloomington, IL and Wyatt Cotton of O'Fallon, IL; special niece, Myrene Alfeldt. and several dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers; three sisters; eight brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law. Funeral services will be held at Oakdale United Presbyterian Church, Oakdale, IL on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Ron Mazander (special nephew and pastor of Elkton Union Church) officiating. Interment will be in Elkton Cemetery, Elkton, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Oakdale, IL on Friday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association.
