Evelyn Koenigstein's Obituary
Evelyn Koenigstein, age 95, of Waterloo, IL, formally of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 5:44 a.m. in Mercy Hospice - De Greef Hospice House, St. Louis, MO.
Evelyn was born on February 10, 1925 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to George and Elizabeth (Franck) Miller. On August 16, 1942, Evelyn married the love of her life, Kenneth Koenigstein in Perryville, MO and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1982. She had worked for My T Fine Pudding Company in Pinckneyville, IL. Evelyn was of the Baptist faith and loved her puppy, Mickey, living in Florida, and being with her family, especially being called Ami by her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda (Thomas) Wilkens of Waterloo, IL and Cheryl (Gary) Davis of Sparta IL; and four granddaughters, who meant the world to Evelyn, Theresa (Charles) Edwards of Waterloo, IL, Lisa (Mark) Williams of Vernon, FL, Debbie (Bret) Strobo of Millstadt, IL and Leslie (Eddie Rung) Park of Sparta, IL; seven great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two nieces, Carolyn (Randy) Sheridan and Mary Ann (Bill) Sands; one nephew, Eddie (Donna) Miller; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Edward (Wanda) Miller.
A private family service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. A webcast video will be available on our Facebook page following the service.
A private visitation service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
Due to health concerns related to the Covid-19 virus and by the signing of executive order by Governor J.B. Pritzker, attendance will be limited and social distancing will be enforced
Memorial donations may be made to De Greef Hospice House, St. Louis, MO.
