Eula Irene Davis' Obituary
Eula Irene Davis, at the age of 101, has passed on to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Eula passed away at 11:35 A.M. on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Coulterville Rehabilitation and Health Center. She was born April 25, 1914 in Swanwick, IL to Bert Earl Thornton and Frances Fern (Edwards) Thornton. She married Kenneth Davis on July 9, 1934 in Salem, IL and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1998. Eula learned to be a homemaker starting at a very young age. She helped raise her brothers and sister, started baking pies for their school lunches at the age of nine and helped with the cooking and cleaning. In her early married days, she worked at the dress factory in Coulterville, the shoe factory in New Athens and a coat factory in St. Louis, MO. Eula and her husband were members of the First Pentecostal Church in Pinckneyville, IL and served there for many years. Eula's hobbies included quilting and making comforters. She gave many away over the years to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Ervin Davis of O'Fallon, MO, Kenneth (Dot) Davis of Wentzville, MO, Brenda ( Harold) O'Rear of Coulterville, IL and Sam (Theresa) Davis of Coulterville, IL; son-in-law Paul Hill of Pinckneyville, IL and daughter-in-law Judy Davis of Nashville, IL; one brother Willard (Eunice) Thornton of Meade, KS; one brother-in-law Charles Zwick of Middlesboro, KY, one sister-in-law Julia Thornton of Brookline, MO; fifteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, David Davis; one daughter, Nancy Joy Hill; one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Davis; one sister, six brothers, and four grandsons. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend J. Mark Harris, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Friends may call Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to First Pentecostal Church of Pinckneyville, IL.
