Eugene "Gene" Grant Shaw, age 69, of Sparta, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 7:35 a.m. in Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL Eugene was born on July 28, 1947 in East St. Louis, IL, a son to Claude and Elsie (Lanam) Shaw. On May 17, 1986, He married Deborah Jean Shaw and she survives. Gene was a United States Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War, a member of the Southern Illinois Street Rod Association and had retired from Cerro Copper, Sauget, IL in 2013. Survivors include his mother, Elsie Shaw; wife, Deborah Shaw of Sparta, IL; two daughters, Sarah (Jeremy) Camp of Sullivan, IL and Kelsey Shaw of St. Libory, IL; one granddaughter, Blair Elizabeth Camp; one brother, Terry (Bev) Shaw of Belleville, IL; one sister, Sandra (Rich) Colona of Troy, IL; in-laws, Jill and Robert Lorance and Mike and Carol Shaw, all of Fairview Heights, IL and Terry and Alyson Shaw of Ogden, UT; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Shaw; one brother, David Shaw; step-mother, Patricia Shaw; and step-father, Howard Lanam. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Jim Stark officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Military graveside rites by V.F.W. Post #6865, Coulterville, IL. Memorial donations may be made to Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church, Coulterville, IL or the American Cancer Society. Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL is in charge of arrangements.
